Andrea Iannone
MotoGP Rider
Vasto
Please make yourself comfortable…
My name is Andrea Iannone.
I ride racing motorbikes, in MotoGP.
I’m from Vasto, year 1989.
August Ninth.
I’ve got tattoos, rings. People believe I’m a braggart.
Actually, I’ve been busting my ass for years. To get there.
I started racing motorbikes because Angelo was already doing it.
He’s my brother, in both blood and fact.
Back when we used to fight, our father gave us boxing gloves and locked us in a room,
when he no longer heard noises he reopened the door and put us to bed, all beaten down.
My father believed in me.
I owe him everything. You know, like… everything? That’s it.
On the first day he goes: “If you come home and you took some, you’re gonna get some more
And remember, the one who hits first, always hits twice”.
And I massacred him.
At one point he said to me: “What do you wanna do, go with your friends and party around or get serious?”
He sold everything to support me.
In 2004, at 15, I was racing in both the Italian and Spanish championships.
I always started badly, then I recovered, then a few laps from the end I always fell. Because I never know how to hold back.
I always wanted to overdo.
But that’s me. I never set any limits for myself
If I play cards I want to win even if I don’t know the rules.
If I lose, I cry.
If you don’t believe this, come and live with me.
Dare touch my games, and everything will go to…
They expelled me from private school.
I used to open my friends’s rooms with phone cards.
If they didn’t let me out, I would run away.
Apologizing is always better than asking for permission.
I’ll tell you why later on.
I got to the 125 World Championship the following season.
